Bonjour,

I’m Claire Durand, and I’m glad you found your way here. Over the years, this space has grown alongside my own life in France—from helping people connect with the language through everyday culture, to exploring what it really means to put down roots in a French region. Today, I write about houses, streets, building customs, and the small practical details that make a place feel like home.

If you have a question about buying or renting in France, a curiosity about regional architecture, or a story from your own house hunt (or renovation saga), I’d be happy to hear from you. I’m not a real estate agent, just someone who has learned a lot by doing—and who loves sharing what I’ve picked up along the way.

You can reach me at [email protected]. I read every message, though I can’t always reply immediately—especially when I’m up a ladder dealing with a beam that turned out to be older than I thought.

A few things I particularly welcome:

  • Questions about French property customs, vocabulary, or regional differences
  • Your experiences with historic homes, village life, or unexpected renovation discoveries
  • Suggestions for places or architectural styles worth writing about
  • Corrections, clarifications, or local knowledge that adds nuance to what I’ve published

I also occasionally collaborate with writers, photographers, and researchers who share an interest in French built heritage. If that sounds like you, feel free to get in touch with a short introduction.

Thank you for reading, and for being part of this slow, curious exploration of France—one roof tile at a time.

Claire Durand
